Convert an image format

Select a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image and choose one of the three output formats. For JPEG and WebP, set an export quality. PNG uses lossless encoding in the browser and does not use the quality slider.

Transparency and JPEG

PNG and WebP can represent transparent pixels. JPEG cannot. When a transparent source is converted to JPEG, the transparent areas are placed on a white background so the output is predictable. If transparency matters, choose PNG or WebP.

Actual browser support

LeapArc asks the browser to encode the selected format, then checks both the returned MIME type and the file signature. If the browser returns a different format or an empty result, the tool reports the problem rather than downloading a file with a misleading extension. Input files and generated images are limited to 40 megapixels, 16,384 pixels per side, and 50 MB for the source.
